Moving Mistakes To Avoid While Moving

Chad Coatney • May 6, 2024

Neglecting to Research Your Moving Company

Before signing a contract with your moving company, make sure you thoroughly check to make sure they have all the qualifications and insurance’s they need before moving your delicate furniture.

Packing Heavier Items in Large Boxes

A helpful tip many people may not know is, heaviest items should be packed in the small boxes. Trust us your back, shoulders and legs will thank you later. This also helps avoid the bottom of the boxes breaking.

If you are moving from a home with a smaller square footage than your used to, your house items might not fit properly the way you would expect them to! Taking measurements of your items, for example, an entertainment center, dressers, nightstands, ect. is a very important step if yyou’re in that particular situation.

Packing Flammables, Explosives, and Harmful Materials

It’s extremely dangerous to leave flammables, such as propane tanks, in your vehicle overnight. Please take extra caution when moving these types of items.

Forgetting to Change Your Address

Make sure your address is up to date BEFORE you move. You do not want your mail being sent to your old address for someone else to open.

Not Packing Your Stuff Professionally

It is so easy for your belongings to get broken if they are not packed right. It would be a moving mistake if you did not use us for packing your house up.

Leaving The Outside of Your Boxes Blank

How would you know what box goes in what bedroom if all your boxes are unnamed? To take time off getting your home together, it is easier to name the box with either the room its boxed in or the contents inside of it.
